How can a laser make raised Braille if lasers only cut?

It cannot on its own. A laser is subtractive, it removes material. The Gel-Jet adds an additive resin print head, so your laser cuts the sign and then prints raised, domed Braille dots on top.

Which lasers is it compatible with?

Laguna and virtually any Ruida-controlled CO2 laser today, including Thunder, Boss, OMTech, Cloudray, Rabbit, G.Weike and more. If your machine runs a Ruida controller or LightBurn, it is compatible. Use the checker above to confirm.

Is the Braille actually ADA compliant?

Yes. It produces domed Grade 2 Braille at 0.059 to 0.063 inch dot diameter, raised 0.025 to 0.037 inch, meeting ADA and ANSI A117.1 requirements.

Is this the same as raster Braille beads?

No. Raster Braille means hand-setting individual beads into drilled holes, which is slow, acrylic-only and error-prone. The Gel-Jet prints the Braille directly, no hand insertion.

How hard is it to learn?

Most operators learn it in minutes. It runs from the same setup your team already uses, so there is no new machine or workflow to master.

Designed and Built in the US

It all started after a long-time employee suddenly left, I was faced with the challenge of training a new person on the art of ADA machine engraving. However, even with my extensive background in CNC operation, I found the operations of cutting tactile letters and inserting Braille rasters to be daunting and complex. That's when I decided to embark on a journey to create a new solution.

My goal was to design and build a prototype that met the following criteria:

  • Easy to learn and operate
  • Fast production, at least 10x times faster than current options
  • Affordable, with a price point significantly lower than other machines on the market

Through my efforts, I was able to turn my vision into a reality with the Quill ADA machine. It simplifies the process of creating Braille ADA signs, making it easier and more efficient for businesses to deliver on a more accessible world for the vision impaired.
